Add documents from iManage, SharePoint or NetDocuments
The documents you need copied into Juristic from the firm's document management system, ready to use.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.
The claim form, the contracts and the correspondence for the matter are already filed in the firm's document management system. To build the chronology from them, review them in an Insights table, attach them to a task or ask JuristIQ about them, you bring a copy into Juristic. You pick the documents from inside Juristic, without downloading and uploading them yourself.
Two things are worth knowing before you start. Juristic sees only what your own DMS account can see, so you never reach a document you could not open in iManage, SharePoint or NetDocuments. And the documents are copied in: nothing you do in Juristic is written back to the DMS.
Link the matter to its iManage workspace
If your firm uses iManage, tie the matter to its workspace when you open it.
In Create a matter (or Edit Matter for an existing one), start typing the client or matter name in Matter number. The field searches your iManage workspaces as you type.
Pick the workspace from the list. Its name becomes the matter number, so the matter in Juristic and the workspace in iManage carry the same reference. Click Save.
Pick the documents
Open the place the documents are needed and open its upload menu:
- in a JuristIQ chat, click + (Upload documents and more) and point to Upload files
- in an Insights table, click Add documents
- on a timeline event, click Upload a document
- on a task, or a structure element, open the menu where you add files
Choose iManage, SharePoint or NetDocuments. Next to them, From computer is for a file on your own machine.
The first time, Juristic asks you to sign in to the DMS: iManage Access Required (or the same for SharePoint or NetDocuments). Click Log in to iManage, sign in with your DMS account in the tab that opens, then come back to Juristic and carry on.
Search for the client, the matter or the document, and press Enter. In iManage the search finds workspaces; turn on Include documents and sub-folders in your query to find a document or folder by its own name.
Click a workspace, site, library or folder to open it. The path above the list shows where you are, and the arrows next to it take you back or up a level.
Click a document to select it. Ctrl-click (Cmd-click on a Mac) adds more documents, and Shift-click selects a run of them. Folders open rather than select: you choose the documents themselves.
Click Select. The documents are copied into Juristic and appear where you opened the menu.
Where to start for each task
| What you need the documents for | Where to open the upload menu |
|---|---|
| Asking JuristIQ about them | The + button in the chat, then Upload files |
| Building the chronology from them | The timeline's Upload panel, which has a tab for each system. See build the chronology from the case documents |
| Evidence for one event | Upload a document on the event |
| Reviewing a set of contracts | Add documents in the Insights table |
Tips from practice
- Pick from one folder at a time. The selection belongs to the list you are looking at, so moving to another folder or searching again starts a new selection. Click Select, then open the menu again for the next folder.
- A colleague can see a document you cannot? That is the DMS's own access control at work. Ask whoever manages the workspace to give you access there; Juristic follows it.
- An option is greyed out. That system is not set up for you. Ask the firm's Juristic administrator; the setup is in connect the firm's document management system.
- The DMS gets a newer version later. The copy in Juristic stays as it was. For iManage documents, Juristic tells you when a newer version exists: see update a document to the latest iManage version. From SharePoint or NetDocuments, add the new version again.
Next: ask JuristIQ about the matter's documents or build the chronology from the case documents.
