Import a group from the company register

The company's registered ownership chain on the chart, with registration numbers, flags and ownership shares to build on.

Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.

Before due diligence, a reorganisation or a KYC check, you need the group as it stands in the register: who owns the company, what it owns, and by how much. Rather than retype the register extract, you import the ownership chain into the structure and build on it.

The question that decides the result is where the company is registered. A Danish company brings its subsidiaries in other countries with it; a company from another register brings only the subsidiaries in that same country.

Import the company

  1. Open the structure, on the slide where the chart should go. If there is no structure yet, create one first: see draw the group structure chart.

  2. Open Import and click Company Register. In the Modern layout, click Import structure in the toolbar on the left and choose Corporate register.

  3. Under WHERE, click the flag of the register's country (hover over a flag to see its name), or leave All countries to search them all. The registers are Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands. Not every plan includes every country; a country your plan does not include is greyed out.

  4. In Search for a company or registration number, type the company's name or its registration number, and pick the company from the list. The registration number is the safer search when several companies have similar names.

  5. Under OPTIONS, choose what the chart shows, then click Import.

Option What it does When to turn it on
Show reg. number Puts the registration number on each entity For due diligence, KYC and anything that goes to an authority
Country flags Puts the country flag on every entity For a cross-border group, so the reader sees where each company sits
Round ownership Rounds percentages to whole numbers, 33% instead of 33.33% For a slide or a memo where the exact decimals do not matter
Include directors Adds the board of the top company in the chain, where the register publishes it For KYC and when the meeting is about who signs

The ownership chain is drawn on the slide, with each holding's registered share on its line.

Check what came in

  1. Compare the chart with the register extract, entity by entity. The import shows what the register records; it does not know about transfers that have not been registered yet.

  2. If the company is not Danish, its subsidiaries in other countries are not fetched, and a message says so. Ownership above the company is still shown across borders. Add the foreign subsidiaries by hand.

  3. For a company in the United Kingdom, Companies House records control in bands, so each holding shows the band recorded for persons with significant control rather than an exact percentage. Replace the band with the actual shareholding if the client has given it to you.

Add what the register cannot show

The register stops where public data stops. Draw the rest on the same chart:

  • foreign parents and shareholders the register does not cover
  • the NewCo or BidCo the deal will add
  • trusts, funds and individuals behind the top company

Select a company and click a handle on its edge to add an entity connected to it: see draw the group structure chart.

Or start from the company

To start a new structure from a company, without opening a structure first:

  • From the matter's structures: under Import from registries, search for the company and click Search. A new draft structure opens with the group drawn on it. Click Save as to name it and file it in the matter.
  • From the Data tool: look the company up, open its Structure tab and click Edit group chart. Name the structure, choose the Matter, and save. See look up a company before the meeting.

Tips from practice

  • Date the import. Put the import date in the structure's description or on the chart. A register chart is a snapshot, and the reader needs to know of when.
  • Rounding is presentation. Leave Round ownership off whenever a threshold matters, such as 50% for control or 90% for a squeeze-out: 49.6% and 50% read the same once rounded.
  • The firm decides the look. The elements an import uses for companies, owners and directors are set by your organisation's admins under Company chart defaults, so imported charts match the ones you draw: see set up company chart imports for the firm.

Next, trace ownership through the group, or tidy up the chart before it goes out.
