Share your work with a colleague

Colleagues notified by email with a link and a note, and added to the matter if they were not on it.

Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.

You have drawn the group structure for Project Alpha and want the partner to check it, or you are handing the chronology over to an associate who will write the narrative while you are in a hearing. Sharing it internally sends your colleague an email with a link straight to the work and a note from you, and gives them access to the matter if they are not on it yet.

Two questions decide how you do it. Is the colleague already in Juristic? And should they see the whole matter? Sharing one structure, timeline, board or insight with a colleague also gives them access to the matter it belongs to.

Share the work

  1. Open the structure, timeline, task board or insight and click Share at the top right. On a task board, only managers of the board can share it.

  2. Under Choose how you want to share, choose Internal (Share within your organisation). External, where your firm allows it, is for people outside the firm; see share a chart or chronology outside the firm. An insight is shared internally only.

  3. In People, start typing a colleague's name, email or initials and pick them from the list. Add everyone who needs it; each of them gets their own email.

  4. In Comment, write what you need from them: what to look at, by when, and where you stopped. The comment is optional, but it is the only brief the colleague gets with the link.

  5. Click Share. Each colleague gets an email with your comment and a link to the work. You are copied on it, and their replies come to you.

Invite a colleague who is not in Juristic yet

  1. In People, type the colleague's full name. When no one matches, choose Invite with their name.

  2. Under Add new user, check the Full name, enter their Email and click Add. Only addresses on your firm's own email domain are accepted.

  3. Click Share. Juristic creates the colleague's user and sends them an invitation to Juristic, then the email with your comment and the link.

If your firm decides centrally who gets Juristic, ask your administrator before inviting anyone; see give a new joiner access to Juristic.

What the colleague gets

The colleague becomes a member of the matter, and of the client group it sits in, if they were not already. That gives them the matter's other work too, not only the item you shared. The line under Internal in the share dialog says so before you share.

Work on it at the same time

When you both have the work open, everyone working on it shows as an avatar at the top right, beside Share. On a structure you see each colleague's cursor move on the canvas with their name beside it. On a timeline, an event a colleague is editing is marked in their colour, and on a task board a cell someone is editing is outlined, with a small avatar that tells you who is editing it.

To see afterwards who changed what, open the activity log; see find out who changed what.

What to share for which handover

The situation What to share What to say in the comment
A trainee checks the documents behind a review The insight Which rows or columns to check, and what to do when the answer is wrong
An associate picks up the chronology The timeline Which documents are in, which are still to come, and where you stopped
The partner reviews the chart before it goes to the client The structure The points you are unsure of; ask for comments on the chart itself, see get a colleague's comments on the chart
A colleague covers the deal checklist while you are away The task board Which tasks are theirs and what falls due while you are out

Tips from practice

  • Check the matter before you share. Sharing opens the whole matter to the colleague. If the matter is closed off to part of the firm, check who may see it before you add anyone.
  • Write the comment as a handover note. "Please check the 60% holding in Gamma ApS against the shareholders' register before Thursday" gets the work done; "FYI" gets a question back.
  • Bringing in a whole team? Add them to the matter itself instead of sharing item by item; see bring your team into the matter.
  • Sharing works inside a matter. Share is not available on templates kept on a client group.

Once the colleague is in, talk the draft through where the work is; see discuss a draft with the team.
