Give a practice team access in one go
A team of colleagues that reaches its client groups, matters and modules through one setting, kept current by you or by the firm's directory.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 15 October 2026.
The disputes team works on every matter for an insurance client. The deal team on Project Alpha changes as associates rotate on and off. Instead of adding each lawyer to each group and each matter, make them a team once, give the team its access, and change the membership when the team changes. Everyone on the team gets what the team has, and leaving the team takes it away again.
Two questions decide the setup. Who keeps the member list: you, or the firm's directory? And should the team see every matter in a client's group, or only the matters it is put on?
Create the team
Open the Admin panel and choose Teams under Access & Security. The list shows each team with its members, what it reaches under Access, and how its membership is kept: Managed here, or the name of the identity provider group it is synced from. Search by name, or show All, Synced from SSO or Managed here.
Click New team at the top right.
Give the team a Name the firm recognises, such as "Disputes team" or "Project Alpha deal team", and a Description if the name needs one. Pick the members in the field below; it lists the firm's active users, without clients. Click Create team. The team's page opens.
Keep the members current
On the Members tab, use Add a member to add a colleague, and the cross on their row to take them off. Beside the list, What members can reach sums up everything the team gives, so you know what a new member gets before you add them. Edit takes you to the Access tab.
You can also add one person to a team from Users: click the shield on their row (Teams and access) and use Add to a team.
You can't add yourself to a team that reaches work you can't open yourself. Another admin can add you.
Decide what the team reaches
Open the Access tab.
Under Groups and matters, click Add a group or matter, type part of its name and pick it. The team is added as Member. What the team already has is left out of the list.
The list only offers the groups and matters you are Manager of: an admin can't use a team to reach work they can't open themselves. For anything else, ask its Manager to share it with the team from Manage access on the group or matter (see Bring your team into the matter).
On each row, choose the role the team gives: Manager or Member. On a group, the All matters chip decides how far the team reaches. It starts switched on when the group has Unrestricted access and off when it has Restricted access; click it to change it for this team.
The team works on Add All matters Everything for one client The client's group On: every matter in the group, now and future Some of a client's matters The client's group Off, and add the matters one by one below it One deal or one dispute The matter Not offered A Manager role on a group with All matters makes every member a Manager of every matter in the group. Give Manager on the matters the team runs, and Member on the rest.
Board permission sets and dashboards lists the parts of boards and the dashboards shared with the team. They are added where they live: with Add team in a board's permission set, or with Invite on a dashboard for the whole organisation. Remove one here with the cross on its row.
Under Modules, click a module to give it to everyone on the team, on top of the modules each person already has. Click it again to take it back.
Let the firm's directory keep the members
If the firm signs in through single sign-on and IT already keeps the team as a group in the directory, link the two, and Juristic follows the directory.
Open the Single sign-on tab.
Choose the Identity provider group, read the warning and click Link group. A group is in the list once someone in it has signed in through single sign-on. A group already linked to another team shows Linked to and that team's name, and cannot be picked.
From now on, each time someone signs in, Juristic puts them on the team if they are in the directory group and takes them off if they are not. The Members tab says where the members come from and can no longer be changed in Juristic. Change group and Unlink on the Single sign-on tab end or move the link.
If your firm linked directory groups to Juristic groups before teams existed, each of those links is now a team synced from SSO that holds the same groups. People join it the next time they sign in.
Delete a team
Click the three dots at the top right of the team's page (More team actions) and choose Delete team.
Click Delete. Members lose the access the team gave them. Access they were given directly, by name, stays as it was.
Tips from practice
- Groups hold the client's matters, teams hold people. Keep one group per client and one team per group of lawyers who work together, and connect the two on the team's Access tab.
- Check the client's conflicts before switching on All matters. If one lawyer on the team must not see one of the client's matters, wall them off; see keep a conflicted lawyer out of a matter.
- Managers can share with a team too. A matter's Managers can add a whole team from the matter itself, without the admin panel; see bring your team into the matter.
- Everything is on the record. The Audit log shows Team created, Team members changed, Team access changed and Team linked to an SSO group, and changes made at sign-in as Team members synced from SSO. See check the firm's audit trail.
- Who is told. By default, people are e-mailed when they are added to a team or get access through one; see choose when people are e-mailed about access.
Before this: give a new joiner access to Juristic. Next: keep a conflicted lawyer out of a matter.
