Review possible duplicates in the chronology
Compare events that may describe the same occurrence, keep the records you need and remove the copies.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 2 November 2026.
The same meeting can enter the chronology through the board minutes, a witness statement and the correspondence. Before counsel reads it, check whether those entries repeat one occurrence or record separate steps. Juristic flags possible duplicates as events are added and edited; you decide which records belong in the chronology.
Two questions guide the review: Did these events describe the same occurrence? And which records carry the evidence you need to keep?
Open the waiting groups
Open the timeline and click the comparison icon with a count in the toolbar on the left: Possible duplicate events await your review. Click here to compare them. The count is groups waiting for review, rather than individual events. The icon is hidden when there are no waiting groups.
Choose a group in the left-hand list of Possible duplicate events, scrolling the list when needed. On the right, compare its events' dates, titles, descriptions, document icons, people and tags. A long title may be shortened inside its card. When an event has more than four people, three avatars appear beside a +N avatar; hover over +N to read the remaining names.
Click Show beside an event to open Event details when you need the full title or more detail. Cancel returns you to the comparison without saving changes.
Decide what stays
Tick Keep beside every event you need and untick the copies to remove. The oldest-added event is ticked when you first visit a group; this is a starting selection, so check its evidence before accepting it. You can keep several events, and at least one must stay.
Check the events marked Will be deleted before clicking Keep selected and delete 1 event, or the same button with the number you are removing. The unticked events are deleted from the timeline and the group is reviewed.
If every event belongs in the chronology, click Keep all. The events stay and the group is reviewed.
You can move between groups in the left-hand list; your ticks stay with each group while the dialog is open. Closing the dialog leaves undecided groups waiting, but reopen it and check the ticks again before resolving a group. Once none remain, the dialog says All suggested duplicates have been reviewed. and the toolbar icon disappears.
Check a group that returns
When an event joins a group after it was reviewed, the group returns. New marks the event that joined since the earlier review; hover over it to read Added after this group was reviewed. Compare it with the records you previously kept before deciding again.
The list updates while you work. An event deleted from the timeline leaves its groups at once, and a group with only one event left disappears. Another viewer's completed review also removes the group from your waiting list.
Tips from practice
- Check the sources before removing a copy. Two similar titles may rest on different documents. Make sure the event you keep has the links you need; see link each event to its evidence.
- Keep separate steps separate. A notice sent and a notice received may use similar wording but answer different questions. Keep both records when that distinction matters.
- Review after each import. Work through one batch before adding the next, so you know which source the kept event came from. See build the chronology from the case documents or turn the email correspondence into events.
Finish by checking the chronology in a table, then present the case chronology.
