Get your firm started on Juristic

The admin panel found and the firm ready for day one: people in, groups set up, matter pages and an announcement.

Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.

The firm has signed up and you are its admin. Before the lawyers open their first matter, a few things decide how Juristic feels on day one: who is in, how the client and practice groups are set up, what a matter page shows, and what people see when they first sign in. This guide finds the admin panel and walks through that first hour.

Two questions decide the order. Who starts first: a pilot team or the whole firm? And how private are the firm's matters: does a group see all its matters, or only the ones each person is put on?

Find the admin panel

  1. Click Admin panel at the bottom of the sidebar. Only Administrators see it. The panel opens on General.

  2. The left-hand menu groups the settings by what they are for. A heading or a page only shows when your organisation has the product behind it.

    Section What you set there
Organisation General, Branding, Announcement, Data retention, Layouts, Sidebar menu
Access & Security Modules, Users, Groups & SSO and Audit log
Usage How the firm uses Juristic, where your subscription includes it
    AI Provider, Prompts, Automation
Tool defaults Structure, Flow and Timeline: the firm's defaults for each product
Templates PowerPoint, Binder (DOCX), Board export, Excel export, Word plugin, Libraries
    Other Integrations, such as DocuSign
  3. Not sure where a setting lives? Click Search settings at the top of the menu and type what you are looking for, such as "logo" or "retention". Pick a result: the page opens and the setting is highlighted.

  4. Click Back to app at the bottom of the menu to return to your own work.

Get the firm ready for day one

  1. Bring people in. Open Users and click Create new user for one person, or Import users for a list: Download CSV template, fill in one user per row, and upload it as .csv or .xlsx, up to 500 people at a time. Each person is invited as if you had created them one by one; anyone who already has an account is left as they are. See give a new joiner access to Juristic and bring a whole team into Juristic.

  2. Set up the first groups. A group is a client or a practice team, and it holds the matters. Back in the app, click New on the home page and choose Group. Give it a title, then choose how its matters are shared. Unrestricted access gives everyone in the group every matter in it; Restricted access means people see only the matters they are put on. If only admins should create groups, see set the firm's policies for Juristic.

  3. Decide what a matter page shows. Open Layouts. There is a tab for each matter role: Manager, User and Client. On each, click Add widget to put on what that person needs to see first when they open a matter. This is the firm's default; a group or a matter can set its own. Clear goes back to Juristic's built-in layout. See set what every matter overview shows.

  4. Pin what everyone needs in the sidebar. Open Sidebar menu and click the pin next to an item (Pin default) to put it in everyone's sidebar, or again (Unpin default) to take it out. People who have already pinned or unpinned an item themselves keep their own choice. See choose what the sidebar shows for everyone.

  5. Welcome people with an announcement. Open Announcement, write a short message, turn on Show announcement, set Show every to the number of days between showings, and click Save. Everyone sees it as a popup the first time they open Juristic in each period. A good first message says who to ask internally and points to the help centre, which everyone can open from Knowledge bank in the sidebar. See tell everyone in the firm about a change.

Who sees what you change

Everything in the admin panel applies to the whole organisation as soon as it is saved. Most of it sets a starting point rather than changing work already done: the structure defaults style new elements, the timeline defaults apply to new timelines, and a group or a matter can set its own layout instead of the firm's. So set the defaults before the team builds much.

A pilot team or the whole firm

Starting with Do first
A pilot team Create the team's users one by one, one group with Restricted access, and an announcement for the pilot
A practice group Import users from a list, one group per client with Unrestricted access if the whole team works on everything
The whole firm Single sign-on before anyone signs in, then groups and layouts, then the announcement

Tips from practice

  • Single sign-on first for a big roll-out. If the firm uses single sign-on, set it up before inviting everyone, so people sign in the firm's way from the first day. See set up single sign-on for the firm.
  • Policies before people. Decide who may create groups and where support requests go before the first lawyers sign in; see set the firm's policies for Juristic.
  • Turn the announcement off, do not delete it. Turn off Show announcement when the roll-out is over. The message stays for next time.
