Give new structure elements the firm's look
New boxes, lines and slide legends that start in the firm's house style, whether a lawyer or the structure chat draws them.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.
A group chart that leaves the firm should look like the firm's charts: the same box shape, the house font, the house colours and the same line between owner and subsidiary. Left to the platform's defaults, every lawyer restyles each box by hand, and two charts for the same client end up looking different. As an organisation admin, or in practice support, you set the starting look once, and every new box, line and slide begins from it.
Two questions decide the setup. Should boxes the AI draws look like the ones lawyers draw? And does the firm already have a standard ownership line in its Firm-wide Library?
Set the look of new boxes
Open Admin panel from your user menu, and under Tool defaults choose Structure. The page is there when the firm has Structure.
On the Element Defaults card, click Edit beside Element styling.
Choose the Figure: the shape every new box starts as. Then set the size: tick Fit size to text to let each box grow with its name, or leave it off and set the Width and Height in centimetres, so a row of subsidiaries lines up without resizing.
Set the text: Font size, Attribute font size for the details shown under the name, Font, Text formatting (bold, italic, underline) and Text alignment.
Set the colours and the border: Background colour, Border colour, the Border style and Text colour. Secondary background colour only applies to two-tone shapes. The Preview at the top shows a box called Company in the look you are setting.
Leave Hide icons on new elements on if the firm's charts carry no icons in the boxes; turn it off if they do.
Click Save. New boxes take this look from now on; boxes already on a chart keep theirs.
These defaults fill in where nothing else decides the look. When a structure already has an element of the kind being drawn, for example a Company element set up in the group's library, the new box takes that element's look instead.
Decide how AI-drawn boxes look
Use the same defaults for AI is on to begin with: boxes the AI creates, for example when the structure chat draws a group from a description, take the same look as boxes drawn by hand.
To give AI-drawn boxes a look of their own, turn Use the same defaults for AI off. Two tabs appear, User and AI, and the AI tab starts as a copy of the user settings.
Open the AI tab, change what should differ, and click Save. Save stores the tab you have open and closes the dialog, so finish and save one tab before you open Edit again for the other.
| The firm wants | Choose |
|---|---|
| One house style, whoever drew the box | Leave Use the same defaults for AI on |
| AI drafts that stand out until a lawyer has checked them | Turn it off and give the AI tab a different colour or Border style |
Copy user defaults to AI copies the user settings over the AI tab again. Turning Use the same defaults for AI back on discards the AI settings after you confirm. Clear defaults on the User tab removes the settings, and new boxes fall back to the platform's defaults until you set them again. On the AI tab it removes the AI settings, and AI-drawn boxes follow the user settings again.
Choose the default line
On the Default relationship card, click Edit beside Default relationship for new lines.
Under Default relationship, pick the relationship every new line should be drawn as, usually the firm's ownership line, and click Save. New lines take its full styling. Only relationships in the Firm-wide Library are offered, so if the list is empty or the line you want is missing, add it there first; see keep the firm's templates in shared libraries.
With nothing picked, new lines use the built-in default line.
Place the legend on new slides
In the Admin panel, under Organisation, choose Branding. On the Structure card, click Edit beside Legend Position.
In Default Legend Position, drag the legend box to where it should sit on the slide, for example the bottom right corner, clear of where the chart usually goes. The position is kept as a share of the slide, so it holds on any slide size.
Click Save Position. New slides put the legend there; slides that already exist keep theirs. What the legend lists is set on each chart; see explain the chart with a legend.
Tips from practice
- Agree the look before you set it. Take a chart the firm has sent to a client and copy its shape, font and colours. Lawyers accept a default that matches what they already send.
- Defaults are a starting point. Lawyers can still restyle any single box or line on their chart. If they keep restyling the same thing, the default is wrong.
- Firm colours first. Put the house colours in the firm's palette before you choose colours here, so lawyers find the same colours in every colour picker; see put the firm's logo and colours on Juristic.
- Mark what AI drew. A slightly different border on AI-drawn boxes reminds the team which parts of a chart still need checking against the register or the documents.
