Look up a company before the meeting

The register facts on a company in one place: owners, beneficial owners, management, power to bind and recent registrations.

Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.

A new client is coming in on Thursday, the conflict check needs the owners of the counterparty, or the engagement letter needs the right company and the people who can sign for it. The Data tool brings the register's facts on a company onto one page, so you go into the meeting knowing who owns it, who runs it and what has changed lately.

Two questions decide where you look. Do you need to know who stands behind the company, or who acts for it? And has anything changed recently?

Find the company

  1. Click Data tool in the sidebar and type the company's name in Search for a company or a person. The results appear under Companies as you type, each with its registration number.

  2. Check the registration number before you click: groups often have several companies with nearly the same name, such as Beta Holding A/S and Beta Holding II A/S. Click the right one to open it.

Read the master data

Master data on the right gives the basics at a glance: the name and address with the country's flag, the Entity registration number, the Registered capital, the Chief Executive Officer, the number of Employees, the Power to bind, the Industry, the Purpose, the Accounting period, the Accountant and the Website. A box only appears when the register has the information.

Power to bind is the one to read before a signing or an engagement letter: it states who can sign for the company, such as "The company is bound by the chair of the board together with one board member".

See who owns it

Click the Owners tab. Legal owners lists the registered shareholders with their stake; Beneficial owners lists the people the company has registered as its ultimate owners. If either list is empty, it says No legal owners or No beneficial owners.

For a conflict check or KYC, the beneficial owners are usually the names that matter. Where a legal owner is itself a company, search for it in the same way to go one level up, or see the whole chain on the Structure tab below.

See who runs it

Click the Management tab. Management lists the executive management, such as the Chief Executive Officer; Board of Directors lists the board, with the Chair and Vice Chair first.

Check what has changed

Click the Timeline tab to see the company's registrations with their dates: incorporation, changes of address, of registered capital, of auditor and of the registered persons, restructurings and changes of status. Under Filter timeline, choose a kind of registration under Registrations, or set the dates to see only the last few months. The tab works for Danish companies only; for a company registered elsewhere it is greyed out.

A change of board or of capital in the weeks before a deal is worth a question to the client.

See the group around it

Click the Structure tab to see the company's ownership chart from the register, with each company's flag. To take the chart further from one of the companies, click the arrow icon in its corner. The tab is greyed out when the register has no structure for the company.

To work on the chart, click Edit group chart. Juristic creates a structure named after the company, with the group as you have expanded it, and keeps it in your drafts until you file it in a matter; see file drafts into the right matter. Hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) as you click to name it and choose the matter straight away.

What to read for each task

What you are preparing Where to look
Conflict check Owners: the legal and beneficial owners, and the Structure tab for the companies around it
KYC or anti-money laundering checks Beneficial owners, Management and the Entity registration number
Engagement letter or signing The exact name and Entity registration number, and Power to bind
First client meeting Master data and the Timeline for recent changes

Tips from practice

  • The register is what was filed. The Data tool shows the register as it stands; a share transfer or a new board member that has not been filed yet is not there. Ask the client to confirm what matters.
  • Note the date of the lookup. When a lookup supports a conflict check or a KYC file, record in the matter when you looked; the register may say something else next month.
  • One company at a time here, the whole group on a chart. For a group with many companies, import the group from the company register into a structure instead of opening each company here.

For the company's accounts, see check a company's accounts and key figures. For a Danish company's taxable income and joint taxation, see check a Danish company's tax position.
