Connect the firm's document management system
iManage, SharePoint or NetDocuments enabled for the firm, so each lawyer can browse it from Juristic.
Updated 13 October 2026.
The firm's matters live in its document management system, and the lawyers want to pick the pleadings, contracts and correspondence from there when they build a chronology or a review table, rather than download and upload each file. This guide is for the firm's IT team and Juristic administrator: what has to be set up once, on the DMS side and with Juristic, before anyone can choose iManage, SharePoint or NetDocuments in Juristic.
Two questions decide the work. Which system does the firm use? And for iManage, is it iManage Cloud or a server the firm runs itself? iManage needs a Juristic application installed on the iManage side; SharePoint and NetDocuments are switched on by Juristic.
Before you start
- Ask for the integration. In Juristic, open the Admin panel, choose Modules under Access & Security and click Manage. Click Request access on iManage, SharePoint or NetDocuments, say in the box which system and version the firm uses, and click Request. Your Customer Success Representative follows up. See add a product to the firm's subscription.
- Know who signs off on the DMS side. For iManage you need someone with admin rights in iManage Control Center.
iManage Cloud
Have the Juristic application installed in your iManage Control Center. Your iManage administrator can do this, or ask iManage support to. It appears in Control Center as "Juristic – Integration with the Juristic platform".
Send your Juristic contact the address of your iManage Cloud, the URL your lawyers sign in at. Juristic connects to that address, so check it with IT rather than copying the firm's website domain.
iManage on your own server
iManage's own guide to adding an application package is Adding Apps in Control Center.
Download the Juristic iManage package: juristic-imanage.zip.
Sign in to iManage Control Center with admin rights and go to Settings > Applications > + Add Application.
Upload the package. Most fields fill in from it.
Check the authentication settings: redirect URL, client type and token options. Juristic sends lawyers back to
https://app.juristic.io/imanage/authorizeafter they sign in to iManage.Choose who can use the application: everyone, or the groups that work in Juristic.
Send your Juristic contact the iManage login domain: the address lawyers enter when they sign in to iManage. It is often not the firm's website domain, so confirm it with IT.
SharePoint and NetDocuments
There is nothing to install. Ask Juristic to enable the system, as in Before you start.
- SharePoint: lawyers sign in with their own Microsoft account, and browse the sites and libraries it can open.
- NetDocuments: tell Juristic which NetDocuments service the firm is on, Europe and the UK or Germany. For a service in another region, Juristic sets up a connection for it first, so mention it early.
Once it is switched on
Check who has it. In the Admin panel, open Users. Everyone whose Access reads Same as organisation gets the integration once Juristic switches it on for the firm. Anyone with their own list of modules needs it added: click the pencil (Edit) on their row, add it in Access, and click Save.
Tell the lawyers how to use it: add documents from iManage, SharePoint or NetDocuments. The first time each of them chooses the system in Juristic, they are asked to sign in to it with their own DMS account, for example Log in to iManage under iManage Access Required.
What the firm can rely on
| Question from risk or IT | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can a lawyer see more through Juristic than in the DMS? | No. Each lawyer signs in with their own DMS account, and Juristic shows only what that account can open. |
| Does Juristic change anything in the DMS? | No. Documents are copied into Juristic; nothing is written back. |
| What happens when a newer version is filed? | The copy in Juristic stays as it was. For iManage, Juristic shows that a newer version exists and lets the lawyer update it: see update a document to the latest iManage version. |
| Who can switch the integration off? | Juristic, on your request. Write to support: see get help from Juristic support. |
Tips from practice
- Get the address right first time. Juristic connects to exactly the iManage address you send, so a website domain or an old server name leaves lawyers unable to sign in. Have someone sign in to iManage in a browser and copy the address they land on.
- Start with one practice group. On an on-premise iManage, give the application to one group first, let them try it on a live matter, then widen it in Control Center.
- iManage behind a Microsoft sign-in. If your iManage server can only be reached after signing in to Microsoft Entra, say so when you send the address, so Juristic can connect through it.
- A lawyer still sees the option greyed out. They have their own list of modules without the integration. Add it in Users as above, then ask them to sign out of Juristic and back in.
