Put new joiners in the right groups
A first-sign-in form that records each joiner's designation, office and practice group and gives them the access their practice needs.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 2 November 2026.
A new associate needs the disputes team's matters on their first morning, and the firm wants to see whether partners and associates are using Juristic. As an organisation admin, set up the onboarding form before people join: their answers record their role and office, and their practice group can put them in the right team or group.
Two questions decide the setup. Which answers does the firm need for reporting? And does a practice's access come from this form or from the firm's directory?
Choose the answers people can give
Open Admin panel, then General under Organisation, and find Onboarding form.
Under Designation, click Add option for each role the firm uses, and enter its Name, such as Partner or Associate. These describe a person's work; they do not give administrator rights.
Click Save below Designation to save that list.
Add the firm's locations under Office and click that list's Save.
Add the firm's practices under Practice group, such as Disputes or Corporate. Leave a field without options if you do not need it; that field is left off the form.
Connect a practice to its access
Beside a practice group's Name, choose its Team or group. Leave it empty if the answer is for reporting only.
Click Save below Practice group to save the names and their links.
| How the practice gets access | What to choose |
|---|---|
| A team whose members you manage in Juristic | The team: a person choosing this practice joins it and gets its access |
| One client or practice group directly | The group: a person choosing this practice joins it |
| A team whose members come from single sign-on | Leave the link empty here and use the team's Single sign-on tab; teams linked to SSO are left out of this picker |
| A practice label needed only for reports | Leave Team or group empty |
Before linking a practice to a team, check what its members reach, including the group's All matters setting. See give a practice team access in one go.
Ask new people to complete the form
Turn on Ask new people to fill in the onboarding form. The switch saves immediately.
Turn on Let people skip it if people should be able to start work before giving their answers. Leave it off if everyone must complete the form before continuing.
The Welcome to Juristic form asks new joiners for First name, Last name and every field you have given options. Continue becomes available once all the required answers are filled. Skip for now appears only when you allow it; people who skip finish from User details in their account menu. See set your name, initials and language.
Record answers for existing colleagues
People already using Juristic are not asked to complete the first-sign-in form. An admin can record or correct their answers instead.
Open Users under Access & Security and choose Edit from the three dots on the person's row.
Under Onboarding answers, select their Designation, Office and Practice group. Each change saves immediately, independently of the dialog's Save button. Not set clears an answer.
Changing a practice group can add the person to its linked team or group. Check their access after changing it; do not assume earlier access has been removed. The answers are for organisation admins and usage reports; clients do not see the form.
Tips from practice
- Agree the names before rollout. A consistent list of designations and offices makes the firm's usage report useful.
- Save each list. Saving Designation does not save edits in Office or Practice group. Duplicate names in the same list prevent saving, including names that differ only in capitalisation or surrounding spaces.
- Rename an option to correct its spelling. Removing an option and saving clears it from people who selected it, so their answer needs filling again.
- Keep directory membership in the directory. Use single sign-on teams for those memberships and the form for the answers the directory does not manage.
Before this: give a new joiner access to Juristic. Next: report usage by role, office and practice.
