Update your tasks as a client
Your tasks on the shared board updated with status, documents and messages for the law firm.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.
Your law firm tracks the transaction or the case on a task board in Juristic, and some of the items are yours to deliver: board minutes, KYC documents, signed powers of attorney, answers to the firm's questions. Rather than sending each one by email, you update the item on the board, and the firm sees it beside the task it belongs to.
Two things are decided by your lawyer, not by you. Which tasks and columns you can see, and which of them you can change.
Find your tasks
Open the matter and click the board under Project management. If you were invited to the board itself, the link in the invitation opens it directly. See open the matter your lawyer shared with you.
The board may open on a view your lawyer made for you, showing the task groups that concern your side. Tasks and columns that are not for you are not shown at all.
Update a task
Click a cell you are allowed to change and fill it in: choose the new status, set a date, or write the text. Cells you can only read do not change when you click them. The firm sees your change on its own board.
To hand over a document, drag the file onto the task's files cell; the cell shows Drop files here while you hold it there. Or click the cell and choose From computer. The document sits on the task, where the firm will look for it.

Send an update on a task
Click the speech-bubble icon beside the task's name. The task opens in a panel on the right, on Updates, where you see what has been written about it so far. The number on the icon tells you how many updates a task has.
Write your update in the field at the bottom of the panel and press Enter to post it. Shift+Enter starts a new line. With the field empty, the button beside it is a thumbs-up: click it to post a thumbs-up as your update, for example to acknowledge the firm's last message without writing anything.
Close the panel with the cross at the top right.
You see the Internal updates tab greyed out. It holds the law firm's own discussion of the task, and it is not shared with you. If there is no field to write in at all, your lawyer has not allowed updates on this board.
Tips from practice
- Put the context in the update. "Signed by both directors, original by courier on Friday" saves the firm an email and a phone call.
- One task, one document. Add each document to the task it answers, not to the first task in the group, so nothing is overlooked at closing.
- Need more? Your lawyer can also let you add, move or delete tasks in your groups, or share a task group or column you cannot see. Ask them; it is set on their side.
Before this: open the matter your lawyer shared with you. For the law firm's side, see give the client access to their tasks.
