Wrap up the board after closing

The deal board marked completed, archived out of the way, and back within reach when a post-closing question comes in.

Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 14 October 2026.

The deal has closed and the closing set has gone to the client. The board was the team's working list for months; now it is the record of how the deal got done. Wrapping it up tells everyone the work is finished and takes the board out of the lists the team works from, without losing anything on it.

Two questions decide how you wrap up. Is there still post-closing work on this board, such as completion accounts, an earn-out or filings? And will the team want it in their list, or only need it when someone asks?

Mark the board completed

  1. Open the board and click Board in the bar above the board to open the board menu. Mark completed and Board settings take a board manager.

  2. Click Mark completed. The board stays where it is, with a tick beside it in the Project management list on the matter's page, so the team sees at a glance which deals are done.

Complete and archive in one step

  1. If no one needs the board in their list any more, open the board menu, click Board settings, and under Actions click Mark Board as Completed.

  2. Choose Just complete to mark it completed and keep it in the list, or Complete and archive to mark it completed and archive it. Tick Remember my choice if you always wrap up boards the same way: the button then does what you chose without asking, in this browser.

To archive a board without marking it completed, click Archive under Actions in Board settings, or Archive in the board's row menu in the Project management list.

An archived board leaves the Project management list. Nothing on it is deleted: the tasks, documents, binders and signing envelopes stay as they were.

Find an archived board again

  1. When a post-closing question comes in, go to the Project management list on the matter's page, click Table settings (the three dots above the list) and tick Include archived. Archived boards appear below the live boards, on a shaded background.

  2. Click the board to open it and look something up, or click Unarchive in its row menu to bring it back into the list.

  3. If work starts again on the board itself, open the board menu and click Mark incomplete.

Tips from practice

  • Generate the closing binder first. Make sure the latest bundle is Synchronised before you archive, so the version the client received is the one on the board.
  • Hand over the final checklist. Export the board to Excel or Word before archiving if the client or the file needs a copy of the final status.
  • Close the matter separately. Archiving a board leaves the rest of the matter as it is. When all the work on the matter is done, see close and archive a finished matter.

The closing set comes from put together the closing binder. For the checklist as a file, see hand the checklist over in Excel.
