Spot the contracts that differ from the rest
A written synthesis of one term across all contracts, and the outliers against a benchmark document.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.
The target has forty supply agreements, and the review table has a termination notice for each. Reading down the column tells you what each contract says; what the report needs is the pattern. Most suppliers can terminate on 30 days' notice, three on 90, one has no termination right at all. The outliers are what the buyer will ask about.
Two questions shape the work. What is the normal position? That is the synthesis. And what do you measure the outliers against? Usually the most common term, sometimes a benchmark: the client's standard terms, or the contract the buyer has already accepted.
Read the pattern across all contracts
Open the insight, open the menu of the column you want to look at (for example Termination notice) and choose Synthesise.
A panel opens with the synthesis: a written overview of the answers across the documents, looking for the position most contracts share and the ones that stand apart.
Copy the text with the copy button at the top of the panel if you want it in your notes or the draft report. The synthesis is not saved with the insight, so copy it before you close the panel.
Line up the outliers in the table
Sort or filter the column from its menu, so the contracts with the same answer sit together and the odd ones stand out.
If the answers are worded too differently to sort, add a column that decides the point for each contract, such as "Is the notice period longer than 30 days?", and filter on that. Decide a review question from the facts shows how.
Compare against a benchmark
Click the JuristIQ button (the sparkle icon) in the bar above the table to open JuristIQ beside the insight.
Ask it to compare one document's answer with the others, and name both the column and the benchmark: "Compare the termination notice in the Beta Holding supply agreement with every other contract, and list the ones that differ."
JuristIQ lines the column up across the documents and tells you which contracts differ from the benchmark and how.
Mark the outliers for the report
For each contract that differs, right-click its cell and choose Flag cell.
Choose Add comment on the same menu to say what is unusual, for example "90 days, against 30 in the standard terms", and click Save.
Check each flagged answer against its document before it goes in the report: Check and sign off the review.
Which approach to use
| You want to know | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| What the contracts say on a term, overall | Synthesise | One written overview to start the report section from |
| Which contracts depart from the client's standard terms | JuristIQ, with the standard terms as the benchmark | Each contract is measured against one document, not against the majority |
| How many contracts cross a threshold | A Yes / No column, then a filter | A count you can verify cell by cell |
Tips from practice
- The synthesis reads JuristIQ's answers. It covers every document in the insight, including rows you have filtered out, and it uses JuristIQ's original answers, not the ones the team has corrected. Documents with no answer in the column are left out, so a contract with no termination right at all will not show up in it: look down the column for Not found. Treat the synthesis as a draft.
- Put the benchmark in the table. Add the client's standard terms or the agreed form as a document of the insight, so it is answered with the same questions and JuristIQ can compare against it.
- An outlier is not yet a finding. A 90-day notice may be in the client's favour. Say in the comment which way it cuts.
Before you start, make sure the answers have been checked in Check and sign off the review. Findings that need action next go to Turn review findings into tasks and events.
