Find a matter or document fast

The matter, chart, chronology or document you need, opened from one search, including words inside documents.

Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.

A partner asks for last year's restructuring chart for Beta Holding A/S. Or you need the email that fixed the closing date, or want to know whether a name or a clause turns up anywhere in the matter's documents. One search covers every matter you are on, and it reads inside the documents as well as their titles.

The question that decides where you search: do you know what you are looking for, or only a word that is in it?

Search from any page

  1. Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) on any page, or click Search in the sidebar.

  2. Type a matter number, a company name or a phrase, at least two characters. Results appear as you type, with the matching text highlighted under each one and, for something inside a matter, where it sits.

  3. Narrow the results with the tabs above them. Each tab shows how many results it holds, and a tab with none is greyed out.

    Tab What it finds
    All Everything below, together
    Matter Matters and groups
Task board Task boards and the tasks on them
    Structure Structures and structure templates
    Timeline Timelines and timeline templates
Blocks Elements, people, red flags and documents, among others
  4. For words inside documents, wait a moment. While Juristic reads the documents, the list shows searching document content..., and documents whose text contains your words are then added to the results. The search covers the documents in every matter you are on and those kept in your groups.

  5. Click a result to open it. Hover over a result for two more choices: New tab opens it in a new browser tab, and the link icon copies a link you can send to a colleague.

Tips from practice

  • Scanned documents. A scan has no text to find until it has been made searchable. If a letter you know is there does not come up, see make scanned documents searchable.
  • Search by matter number. If the firm starts matter titles with the matter number, typing the number takes you straight to the matter.
  • Lists keep their search. When you search in a table on the home page, the search goes into the page address, so the link opens the list with the same search.
  • For admins. If you are one of your organisation's admins, a Settings tab finds the pages of the admin settings as well.

Not sure where to look yet? Start with catch up on what needs you. Once you have found the documents, keep the matter's documents in order.
