Insert a structure chart into a Word document
The current group chart inserted as a picture into the opinion or memo you are writing in Word.
Updated 14 October 2026.
You are drafting in Word, the legal opinion on the Beta Holding A/S group or the structure memo for Project Alpha, and the group chart belongs in it. The Juristic add-in fetches the structure as it stands in Juristic and puts its slides into your document as pictures, without an export and a download in between.
One question decides whether this is the right route. Is the chart a fixed record in the document, or something the reader will change? A picture suits an opinion or a report. For a chart the reader can edit, see send the structure as an editable PowerPoint.
Before you start
The Juristic add-in must be in Word, and you must be signed in to it. Your IT team rolls it out (roll out the Word and PowerPoint add-ins); you sign in once (sign in to Juristic in Word and PowerPoint).
Insert the chart
Open the document in Word and click Juristic Assistant on the Home tab of the ribbon to open the Juristic pane.
Click Workflows at the bottom of the pane.
Choose Import Structure.
Find the structure. The list shows your groups, with the matters you are on inside them; open the matter and tick its structure. Type in the search field to find it by name. Matters that are archived are not listed. If the pane says no structures were found, none of your matters has a structure yet.
Click Run workflow. Juristic draws the structure's slides, as the PowerPoint export would, and adds them at the end of the document, one picture per slide.
Cut each picture you need and paste it where it belongs in the text. Delete the ones you do not need: if the firm's PowerPoint template opens or closes its decks with a slide of its own, those slides come in too.
Tips from practice
- Bring it up to date before it goes out. The chart in your document stays as it was when you inserted it. When the structure changes in Juristic, run Import Structure again on the same structure: Juristic replaces the pictures it inserted with the current slides, where they sit in the text, and adds any it cannot find at the end, including slides you deleted earlier. Delete those again.
- Get the chart right first. Correct names, holdings and labels in Juristic before you insert it, and see tidy up the chart before it goes out. The picture cannot be corrected in Word.
- Fit it to the page. Resize the picture in Word to the width of the text, and add the caption or source line the firm uses for figures.
To export the chart as a separate Word document, PDF or image instead, see put the group chart into a memo or opinion. For a chart that stays up to date inside a PowerPoint deck, see keep structure slides in a client deck up to date.
