Put the group chart into a memo or opinion
A Word page, PDF or image of the chosen slides, fixed for an opinion, report, binder or filing.
Screenshots are taken from the app on every release. Updated 13 October 2026.
The group chart has to appear in something that is not a slide deck: the legal opinion on the Beta Holding A/S group, the due diligence report for Project Alpha, the closing binder, a filing, or an email to the client. Here the chart is a record of the group as it stood, not something the reader should edit. Export it as a Word document, a PDF or an image.
Two questions decide the settings. Does the reader need one chart, or every slide of the structure? And will the chart sit inside a document of yours, or travel as a document of its own?
Export the chart
Click Export: the Export tab on the ribbon in the Traditional layout, or the Export button in the toolbar in the Modern layout.
Choose Image, PDF or Word.
Choose Current slide for the slide you have open, which downloads straight away, or Multiple slides to pick several.
With PowerPoint Canvas on, Current slide for an image or a PDF asks one more question. With logos keeps the background and logos of the firm's slide template; Without logos leaves them out. Pick Without logos when the chart goes onto the firm's letterhead, which already carries the logo.
For Multiple slides, a dialog opens. Tick the slides that belong in this export. Every slide is ticked when the dialog opens; Deselect all clears them.
For a PDF, choose the extra pages. The cover and thank-you pages are ticked when the dialog opens; the contents page is not.
- Include cover page: a first page with the structure's name, the date and the firm's logo, or the firm's own cover design if it has one.
- Include contents page: each slide's title with its page number.
- Include thank-you page: a closing page.
With PowerPoint Canvas on, decide on Include background logos for a PDF or images, as in step 3.
Click Export. Images and Word documents are built in your browser, and the dialog counts the slides as it goes; Cancel stops it. A PDF is prepared in the background and downloads when it is ready.
What you get
| Format | Current slide | Multiple slides |
|---|---|---|
| Image | One picture of the slide | One picture per slide; several come as a zip file |
| One page | A numbered page per slide, with the cover, contents and closing pages you ticked | |
| Word | A Word document with the structure's name, the chart, and the firm's logo in the header (Juristic's, if the firm has not added its own) | The same, with a page per slide headed by the slide's title |
None of them can be edited as a chart: the reader sees a picture. For slides the reader can change, see send the structure as an editable PowerPoint.
Settings for each use
| Where the chart is going | Format | Slides | Worth setting |
|---|---|---|---|
| A legal opinion or due diligence report | Word for a chart annex, or Image to paste into your draft | Current slide | For an image, Without logos, so the chart sits on your letterhead without a second logo |
| A closing binder or a filing | Multiple slides | Include cover page and Include contents page; untick Include thank-you page | |
| An email to the client | Image | Current slide | Nothing more: the picture goes straight into the email |
Tips from practice
- Clear the edges first. Turn on PowerPoint Canvas and look for stray notes or entities outside the slide edges. In a PDF, anything outside the slide shrinks everything on that page to make room, an image grows to take it in, and a Word export of several slides cuts it off.
- Date the record. The cover page carries the date of the export. For an opinion or a closing binder, that is the date the chart speaks to, so export again rather than reuse an older PDF.
- Keep the working slides out. Untick slides with the team's notes or alternatives under Multiple slides; they stay on the structure for later.
To place the chart in the Word document you are writing without leaving Word, see insert a structure chart into a Word document. Before you export, see tidy up the chart before it goes out.
